The Fitness and Strength Hypothesis Statements

The Fitness and Strength experiment is about making measurable improvements in fitness level, strength and muscle mass and then measuring the impact of those changes on metabolic parameters and body composition. The goals for this experiment should build on the goals from the last experiment and should lead in the direction of your overall lifestyle experiment hypothesis. Write your hypothesis statement using a slightly different approach than the sugar experiment. Make a stronger statement about where you are starting the experiment and then write a specific prescription for exercise and what you hope to achieve from it. An example is shown below:
Starting Point Statement
After completion of the sugar experiment, I still have prediabetes with HbA1c of 5.8 and my body fat percentage has remained at 26%. I estimated my fitness level to be a V02 max of 27 and my grip strength is 28 kg, which is low for my age of 62.
Hypothesis Statement 1
By increasing the intensity and duration of my cardiovascular routine to 8 METS and 180 minutes per week and by adding a weekly weightlifting session, I can improve my fitness level to V02 max of 30 and grip strength of 30 kg in both hands over a 3-month period.
Hypothesis Statement 2
By improving my fitness level and grip strength over a 3-month period, I can reduce my body fat percentage to 24% or less and my HbA1c to 5.6 over a 3-month period.
